One of the biggest challenges when studying children is that because you have to usually run experiments in person, it takes a lot longer to get data (it can take years and years to get data for one study) than for example doing an online experiment with adults. If we could find a way to do reliable testing online with children, this would speed things up a lot!
Well my first thought was ‘time’, or a lack of it! Unfortunately you can’t pause time but using and applying psychology works best when we take time out to reflect on things and plan a way forward. So often we are caught up in busy lives with work, commuting, family time, socialising (on and offline but increasingly online for many) and so on… but I guess the solution, at least for me in my role is to make time for supervision sessions. Good supervision is basically a meeting with a colleague or peer to discuss work or work related matters and it is a protected time (which means it can’t be taken away).
